It offers legal firms tools like eDockets, Docket Direct, Forms Workflow, Smart Dockets, Docket Alerts, and the eFiling Portal under one roof. ALN’s platform was designed jointly with UppLabs to address the complexities, costs and risks associated with e-filing. It promises to dramatically reduce law firms’ e-filing rejection rates due to up-to-date forms available. In 2022, ALN was acquired by Aderant, a global business software provider for law firms.

The Upplabs team supported ALN during the MVP creation journey. The development process was accompanied by rigorous adherence to legal standards and the implementation of advanced data security measures. Considering that challenge, the UppLabs team needed to handle encrypting data transmissions, securing data storage, and ensuring the platform’s compliance with various legal jurisdictions and privacy laws, such as CCPA and GDPR.

Building integrations

Integrating tools like eDockets and Forms Workflow required designing a modular architecture to ensure efficient data interchange and interoperability among third-party services. The UppLabs team had to work with various API specifications to gather a broad spectrum of solutions under one umbrella.

Core features development

Up-to-date forms were the basis of American LegalNet. However, the client strove to enrich the platform with other crucial features designed from scratch, like web based docketing, calendaring, rules, and electronic filing. That way, ALN wanted to enhance user experience and create a hussle-free environment.

We used end-to-end encryption for data in transit and employed state-of-the-art encryption techniques for data at rest. We’ve designed a modular and scalable backend architecture, enabling the seamless integration of diverse legal tools of the client’s choice. The platform can communicate with various APIs while maintaining high performance and reliability. By developing a series of adapters and middleware solutions, UppLabs ensured each tool could be integrated with minimal friction.

Full-fledged MVP development

The development of ALN’s platform MVP was entirely entrusted to the UppLabs team. We were tasked with creating a robust and versatile solution within a relatively tight timeframe, considering the time needed for building 10+ integration points.
